This book made the New York Times bestseller list!
For ten years, I wrote dozens of Pokémon books! I wrote chapter books, readers, guidebooks and activity books. I don’t write them anymore, but when I did, I had a lot of fun. I have received thousands of letters from Pokémon fans over the years. Here are some Pokémon facts and links:
Who created Pokémon?
Pokémon was invented in Japan by a man named Satoshi Tajiri. It started out as a video game, then became a comic book and then a cartoon. In the Japanese cartoon, Ash’s name is Satoshi!
How did you get to write Pokémon books?
I got the job writing Pokémon because I am a big fan of cartoons, especially Japanese cartoons. My editor at Scholastic asked if I would be interested in writing books about Pokémon, and I said “Yes!”
Who is your favorite Pokémon?
My favorite Pokémon are Jigglypuff and Squirtle, because they are funny. When I started playing the Blue Version of Pokémon, I choose a Squirtle. I did not get very far in the game because I became too busy writing books. I also like Celebi a lot.
What Pokémon would you train if you could?
If I were a Pokémon trainer, I would probably specialize in Grass Pokémon because they are either very cute, like Oddish and Bellossom, or very unique, like Belsprout.
If I were going to cosplay as a Pokémon, I would try to get my sister and friends to cosplay with me so we could wear sunglasses and go as the Squirtle Squad!
